Due to the current situation, we are all required to comply with stricter hygiene measures and to reconsider everyday actions such as operating a door handle, a window handle or pushing a shopping cart.
Wearing gloves only helps to a limited extent in these cases, as the following also applies here: if you touch a surface with viruses on it and then touch your face, these viruses can be transmitted.
In a American study*various surfaces were tested for the half-life of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Among other things, it was found that the virus can survive for several days on surfaces such as stainless steel or plastic.
In contrast, the number of pathogens on copper decreases exponentially and acutely.
International studies have repeatedly shown that copper has antiviral, antibacterial and fungicidal properties, as it shortens the half-life of viruses, bacteria and fungi.*

The latest laboratory results also independently confirm the effectiveness of the Shieldex® copper tape. The Eurovir® hygiene laboratory was able to prove that TGEV coronaviruses on the tape are 99.98% inactivated after just 60 minutes. In addition, a further virus test was carried out in the Eurovir laboratory for bovine coronaviruses. This test showed that no residual virus was detectable after the shortest possible test period of 7 minutes (corresponds to a virus inactivation rate of more than 99.99%). The bovine coronavirus is a beta-coronavirus, which also includes SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2. The renowned Hohenstein Institute also confirms the significant virucidal and strong antibacterial effectiveness of our Shieldex® copper tape.*

Application and safety instructions
Application
The tape can be used on all smooth and metallic surfaces, but is not recommended for use on textiles as the adhesive does not adhere there.
Cleaning
Clean the door handle so that it is dry and free of oil, grease, dust and dirt.Fitting
Place the long side of the tape on the handle and wrap it around so that the tape completely covers the handle. If the tape overlaps by more than 1 cm, mark the excess material and cut the tape to size.Sticking on
Remove the backing material and apply the tape so that the beginning and end of the tape meet on the underside of the handle. Smooth the tape from the center outwards.
Safety instructions:
The blank is intended exclusively for attachment to door handles. Our polyamide and polyester textiles are galvanized with pure copper. Various international studies have shown a significant reduction in the survival time of viruses, bacteria and fungi on copper surfaces. However, as our copper tape releases 7 times more copper ions than solid copper, permanent contact with the skin is not recommended. This product serves as a supplementary measure and does not replace hygiene measures such as regular, thorough hand washing or hand disinfection.

Care instructions
Remove superficial dirt from the copper tape regularly with a soft brush. In the case of very heavy soiling that can no longer be removed, we recommend replacing it with a replacement tape to restore optimum effectiveness. The oxidation of copper is a natural process.
