Heat conducting films and adhesive tapes
Thermal management
Compared to the thermal conductivity of metals or good gap fillers, the thermal conductivity of films is quite low (but still at least 10 times as good as air). This apparent disadvantage is compensated for by the low material thickness of the heat conducting films . The thermal resistance Rth takes into account the area through which the flow passes, the material-specific thermal conductivity and the thickness of the material. Thermally conductive films achieve excellent dielectric strengths with extremely low material thickness. Thermally conductive films and adhesive tapes also require less installation space due to their low thickness and are dimensionally stable even under pressure. This means that there is no risk of the dielectric strength of the thermally conductive film being affected by mechanical pressure (reduction in thickness).
Thermally conductive coatings are available to improve the thermal connection to surfaces:
- Thermally conductive acrlyate adhesive for permanent bonding
- Thermally conductive polysiloxane adhesive for maximum temperature resistance
- Phase-change coating to eliminate air pockets
Thermally conductive films are available as rolls, individual parts or kiss-cut molded parts on rolls and sheets.
Customized designs are possible at any time by arrangement.
Use:
Thermal connection of e.g. LEDs, MOSFETs, IGBTs, diodes, rectifiers, electronic modules, inverters, frequency converters (drive controllers), motor controls, automotive applications (high-voltage battery, HV converters, HV DC/DC converters), solar technology
